Privacy Policy
Overview
Zen Tab is designed with privacy as a default. The extension stores all user data locally on your device. No personal information is collected, transmitted to our servers, or shared with third parties, except as described below.
Data Stored Locally
The following data is saved only in your browser's local extension storage and never leaves your device:
- Clock and display preferences (theme, clock format)
- Favourite bookmarks (URL and title pairs you add manually)
- To-do list items
- Notes content
- Focus mode and site-blocker settings
- Search engine preference
- Weather location preference (city name you enter)
Network Requests
Zen Tab makes the following outbound network requests:
- Weather data — when you enable the weather widget, the city name you enter is sent to Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) to resolve geographic coordinates, and those coordinates are then sent to Open-Meteo to fetch the current weather forecast. No personally identifiable information is included. Both services are subject to their own privacy policies.
No other data is sent anywhere. There are no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising networks, and no tracking pixels embedded in the extension.
Browser History Permission
The history permission is used solely to display your recently visited sites in the new-tab dashboard. History data is read locally and is never transmitted externally.
Management Permission
The management permission is used to detect whether the companion Site Blocker extension is installed, so a configuration shortcut can be shown in the settings page. No information about installed extensions is transmitted externally.
Children's Privacy
Zen Tab does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a revised date.
